Hummingbird

Tradition: Mesoamérica (Huitzilopochtli), Andes, Caribe

Tiny and brave, it flies backward and hovers in the air. For the Mexica it was the soul of warriors; for the Andes, a messenger of joy. The hummingbird teaches us to savor the moment.
